Worship/Parish Life

  • Acolytes, Crucifers: These individuals are involved in the weekly liturgy of the church. Among their responsibilities are leading the procession into and out of the chancel each Sunday with candles and the cross. Contact person—Darrel Williams
  • Beth Murray Adult Sunday School Class: Named after its longtime leader, the Beth Murray class gathers each Sunday morning to discuss a selected book or film, usually pertinent to contemporary issues in theology and the community. Contact person—Henry Callaway
  • Altar Guild: The Altar Guild maintains the materials (linens, chalice, etc.) used at the altar. Contact person—Betty Bentley
  • Archives: The archivists keep track of the history of the parish and its people. Contact person—
  • Breakfast Teams: All Saints hosts Sunday-morning breakfast for members and guests between the 8:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Holy Eucharist services. Contact person—
  • Caring Committee: The Caring Committee is a group of laypeople who provide assistance to parish members at times of illness, hospitalization, death, births, or other emergencies. Committee members provide meals, prayers, phone calls, cards, visits, and transportation, and arrange receptions for funerals. Contact person—Beth Hardaway
  • Chalice Ministers: Chalice ministers are laypeople who serve wine (in the cup, or chalice) during Eucharist each Sunday. Contact person—Jim Flowers
  • Choirs: Adult choir, girls’ choir, hand-bell choir. Contact person—Josh Bullock, Principal Parish Musician
  • Flower Guild: The Flower Guild creates custom floral arrangements for worship each week. Contact person—Katharine Flowers
  • Godly Play: Godly Play is our Sunday School curriculum for children ages 4 years to 4th grade. Contact person—Frances Rouse
  • Lay Eucharistic Visitors: Trained parishioners take communion to and visit with members who are unable to attend church regularly. Contact person—Beth Hardaway
  • Lay Weeders: This group works periodically to maintain the garden and grounds. Contact person—Katharine Flowers
  • Lectors & Intercessors: Intercessors read the Prayers of the People, and lectors read the week’s scripture lessons. Contact person—Valerie Mitchell

  • Parish Life Committee: This committee provides finger foods for receptions following each Sunday service and also keeps track of table linens for parish events. Contact person—Patricia Donalson

  • Ushers: The ushers are some of the first friendly faces that people attending church may see. As well as greeting and handing out service leaflets, our ushers pass the collection plates, take the overall count of attendance, and ring the bells before and after each Sunday service.   • Wedding Guild: The Wedding Guild coordinates members’ and some non-members’ weddings if they take place at All Saints. Contact person—Elizabeth Doyle

Community Ministries

  • Alabama Arise: All Saints is a member of Alabama Arise, a statewide non-profit, non-partisan organization created to further the needs of people in poverty across the state. Contact person—
  • Family Promise: Nearby church Central Presbyterian is a host facility for several homeless families with children, who need a reliable place to stay until they can find permanent housing. All Saints hosts provide meals for the families during the weeks that they stay at Central. Contact person—Cynthia Tucker
  • First Light Community: First Light Community (FLC) is a local organization of people with and without intellectual disabilities, who live communally and with dignity. All Saints provides office and gathering space to the FLC community; some of their members have attended church with us; and some of the FLC Core Members clean our buildings each week.   • Neighborhood Food Share: A group of members meet on Tuesdays to put together small bags of groceries for needy neighbors. Food distribution takes place Wednesday mornings promptly at 8:00 a.m. Contact person—Karen McDonald
  • Prism Families: Prism Families is a support group that “provides a judgment-free space where family members of LGBTQ youth can find peer support, friendship, and a better understanding of LGBTQ issues.” This is a portion of local nonprofit Prism United, which “offers programming for LGBTQ youth and the people who care for them.” Contact person—
